Isolation Flowers:
We are going through such strange times. I call myself an Isolation Artist now. Who would have ever thought the whole world was going to come to a stop and our ‘normal’ life would go through a such a chaotic phase. A lockdown situation where staying home and staying safe is what will help us get through the pandemic. I’m a very outdoorsy person. You will not find me sitting at home on a sunny day specially in spring. I’m usually checking the weather and locations to maximise the intake of spring florals. Tulips, daffodils, cherry blossom, blue bells, azaleas to name a few. I have my favourite locations in and around London – Kew Gardens, Richmond park, Chiswick House, various streets, you name it. You have to time your visit to catch the blooms so planning is essential! But not this year. This spring the weather has been fabulous but we are staying indoors. I am staying indoors except for once a week shopping trip to Sainsbury’s. Fortunately, there’s some flower beds and some magnificent trees around where I live. Like they say something is better than nothing! Rest can be imagined or there’s always the photos from previous years.
So, that brings us to my Spring floral collection also known as Isolation Flowers. Couple of weeks before lockdown, I had started painting some watercolour florals. During lockdown, however I have been using acrylics for the dynamic energy. For the meatiness of the paints. I like the physical aspect of it. It’s like getting in to nature and having a good walk, being part of the flower bed, getting mud on the hands. I can almost smell the fragrance as I write this. I feel transported. The paintings are all abstract in nature just to emphasise the imaginary aspect of it.
Isolation Family Lockdown Hangover Thinking of You
If you want to own a piece of original art, created during these strange times, which we can only hope will never see again then grab one of these. A memory of what we have been through and how we made it. Great gift for that someone you know you had a tough time but endured and also was a means of inspiration and support for you. God bless!
